JESS KORZEC NAMED LITTLE EAST
WOMENíS BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman guard Jess Korzec (West Brookfield, MA) was named the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Rookie of the Week for her performance in helping the Anchorwomen go 1-1. It is the second consecutive week Korzec has earned the Rookie of the Week honor.

 

Korzec began the week by tallying six points, on 3-for-7 shooting, five rebounds, four assists and one steal as the Anchorwomen fell to intra-city foe Johnson & Wales, 69-56, on Dec. 4.

 

 

 

She followed that performance with a career-high 26 points, on 10-for-12 shooting, five rebounds, one block and one steal as the Anchorwomen opened Little East play with a 64-60 victory over Eastern Connecticut on Dec. 6. For the week, Korzec scored 32 points on 13-for-19 shooting, recorded 10 rebounds and handed out seven assists.

 

For the season Korzec has appeared in eight games, starting two of them. She leads the team with 10.9 ppg on 50.7 percent (35-for-69) shooting from the field. She has tallied 33 rebounds, 10 assists, three blocks and 14 steals on the season.

 

Head Coach Glenn Senecalís team is currently 2-6 overall and 1-0 in the Little East Conference.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Amherst on Wednesday, Dec. 10 (7 p.m.).
