JEAN-JACQUES RANKED NO. 1 IN NEW ENGLAND
AS RIC WRESTLING HOLDS DOWN THIRD SPOT

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College wrestling team rounds out the fall semester tied for third in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) coaches’ poll announced Monday.

 

The Anchormen are tied with Coast Guard for third with 105 points, while trailing first place Johnson & Wales (141 points) and second place Roger Williams (140 points).

 

Four Anchormen wrestlers are ranked in the top six of their weight class in New England. Junior Ricondo Cole (Cranston, RI) is ranked second at 141 pounds, junior Shawn Giblin (Cranston, RI) is ranked third at 149 pounds, sophomore John Georges (Cranston, RI) is ranked fifth in the 197 pounds and sophomore Terrance Jean-Jacques is ranked number one in the heavyweight division.

Jean-Jacques also received national recognition, being ranked sixth in the nation at the heavyweight division by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) in their Dec. 9 poll.

 

Head Coach Jay Jones’ Anchormen are 5-1 overall and a 3-0 record in NEWA action.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2015 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals on Jan. 9-10.
