JEAN-JACQUES REMAINS ON TOP, WHILE RIC WRESTLING IS RANKED NO. 5 IN NEW ENGLAND

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College wrestling team is ranked fifth in the latest New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) coaches’ poll announced on Jan. 13. Five Anchormen were ranked in their respective weight class in the poll.

 

RIC received 85 points in the poll, while intra-state rivals Roger Williams (144 points) and Johnson & Wales (138 points) held down the top two spots.

 

The Anchormen had five wrestlers ranked in the top six in their weight class in New England. Senior Jonathan Murray (Brentwood, NY) is ranked fifth at 125 lbs., senior Jonathan Costa (New Bedford, MA) is ranked fourth at 133 lbs., junior Ricondo Cole (Cranston, RI) is ranked second at 141 lbs., junior Shawn Giblin (Cranston, RI) is ranked fourth at 149 lbs. and sophomore Terrance Jean-Jacques (Haverhill, MA) is ranked first at 285 lbs.

Head Coach Jay Jones’ Anchormen are 5-4 overall and 3-0 in NEWA action.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Ursinus Invitational on Jan. 17.
