MCCUTCHEON WINS TWO EVENTS
IN, 118-96, LOSS AT HUSSON

Bangor, Maine-Junior Marykate McCutcheon  (Smithfield, RI) won the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.02) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.89) as the Rhode Island College women’s swimming team fell, 188-96, to Husson in a non-conference swim meet on Saturday afternoon.

 

McCutcheon’s two victories led the Anchorwomen (1-3) on the day.

 

Husson (1-3) junior Katrina Aman (Lakeville, MA) took victories in the 50-yard breaststroke (39.91) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:48.39) to pace the Eagles. Senior Erin Benner (Morrow, OH) took victories in the 50-yard backstroke (33.95), 100-yard backstroke (1:13.24) and finished second in the 100-yard IM (1:14.72) in the victory.

Freshman Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.69) and first in the 100-yard IM (1:09.96).

 

Freshman Taylor Ryan (Warwick, RI) took home victories in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.53) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:04.52).

 

Sophomore Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) placed second in both the 50-yard backstroke (34.62) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.14).

 

Freshman Samantha Roberts (Willington, CT) earned a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:42.67), and finished second in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (15:15.75) and the 50-yard breaststroke (47.68).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Little East Conference rival Western Connecticut on Sunday, Jan. 25 (noon) at Bryant University.
