LEGALL WINS TWO EVENTS AS RIC FINISHES FOURTH AT COAST GUARD INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.-Freshman Akiel Legall (Providence, RI) earned first place finishes in both the 55m (6.77) and the long jump (6.50m), as well as a second place finish in the 200m (23.90), to pace the Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team at the Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational on Saturday.

 

The Anchormen placed second at the event with 137 points. Coast Guard earned the victory with 229 points.

 

Senior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) finished second in the 55m hurdles (7.98), third in the long jump (6.23m) and 14th in the 200m (25.20).

Sophomore Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) placed second in both the shot (13.60m) and the weight throw (14.70m).

 

Junior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) placed third in the shot (12.84m), while breaking the school record with a first place finish in the weight throw (18.35m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24.
