JEAN-JACQUES & GHOLIZADEH WIN AS RIC WRESTLING PLACES THIRD AT
WILL ABELE INVITATIONAL

Collegeville, Pa.-Sophomore Terrance Jean-Jacques (Haverhill, MA) and freshman Imran Gholizadeh (Woburn, MA) won at 285 and 197 lbs. respectively, as the Rhode Island College wrestling team finished third (seven teams) at the 2015 Will Abele Invitational, hosted by Ursinus on Saturday afternoon.

 

RIC totaled a team score of 83.0. Ursinus won (157.0), while Wilkes (132.5) finished second to round out the top three institutions.

 

Jean-Jacques went 3-0 with three pins to win the title at heavyweight. Gholizadeh went 3-0 and defeated sophomore teammate John Georges (Cranston, RI), 2-1, in double overtime in the championship match. Georges finished second at 197 lbs.

Sophomore Michael Murphy (North Providence, RI) went 1-1, after receiving two byes, to finish second at 157 lbs.

 

 Freshman Michael Bentley (Woburn, MA) finished third at 184 lbs., while senior Jonathan Costa (New Bedford, MA) finished fourth at 133 lbs. with a 2-2 effort.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24.
