Willimantic, Conn.-Freshman Taylor Ryan (Warwick, RI) placed first in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.50) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.83) to lead the Rhode Island College women's swimming team in a 76-54 setback against Little East Conference foe Eastern Connecticut on Friday evening.


Eastern was led by senior Abby Arisco (Wallingford, CT) who took victories in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.51) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:40.19).  Junior Rebecca Stewart (Niantic, CT) also helped the Warriors, taking a victory in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.64).

RIC freshman Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished second in the 100-yard IM (1:08.10), while taking the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.56).


Junior Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) placed second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.21) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.77).


Freshman Samantha Roberts (Willington, CT) finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (33.72) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.57). Sophomore Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (29.56) and second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.52).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships on Feb. 13-15.
