LEMIRE & MURPHY FINISH FOURTH & FIFTH IN THE ALL-AROUND AT BULLDOG INVITATIONAL

New Haven, Conn.-Freshman Samantha LeMire (Moodus, CT) and sophomore Emily Murphy (Hamden, MA) placed fourth and fifth in the all-around, respectively, as the Rhode Island College women’s gymnastics squad posted a fourth place (four teams) finish at the Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational hosted by Yale on Saturday afternoon.

 

Div. II Bridgeport won the meet with a score of 193.450. Div. I Yale placed second (191.375) with Div. II Southern Connecticut finishing third (190.825). RIC rounded out the quartet with a score of 176.600.

 

Junior Emma Hartan (Hebron, CT) recorded the highest score of the day for RIC, finishing 17th with a 9.425 on the vault. She also competed on beam (8.000) and floor (9.150).

 

 

 Freshman Meghan French

 

LeMire scored an 8.775 on vault, 8.550 on bars, 9.050 on beam and 9.400 on floor to total 35.775 in the all-around. Murphy scored 9.050 on vault, 7.250 on bars, 8.425 on beam and 8.675 on floor for an all-around score of 33.400.

 

Freshman Meghan French (Shelton, CT) scored a team-high 9.300 and finished 17th on beam for the Anchorwomen.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at a quad-meet hosted by Div. II West Chester on Saturday, Feb. 7 (4 p.m.).
