RIC MENíS & WOMENíS TRACK AND FIELD INDIVIDUALS RANKED NATIONALLY

Providence, R.I.- With four weeks remaining in the indoor track and field season, Rhode Island College has numerous student-athletes on both the menís and womenís side earning national and regional recognition. Four RIC individuals have earned NCAA national rankings, while nine more student-athletes and two relay squads earned top-15 New England honors.

 

Sophomore Steve Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) leads the way, ranking fifth in the country in the high jump, in the latest NCAA rankings. He is ranked first in New England in the high jump, while also being a member of the 4x400m relay, which is ranked 10th in New England.

 

Junior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) is ranked seventh in the 400m by the NCAA. She is ranked second in the 400m, fifth in the 200m and fifth in the long jump in New England. She is also a member of the 4x400m relay team that is ranked fifth in the region.

Senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) is ranked eighth in the country and third in New England in the weight throw.

 

Senior Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) is ranked ninth in the country in the 400m. She is ranked third in the region in the 400m and seventh in the triple jump, while also being a member of the fifth-ranked 4x400m relay.

 

Freshman Akiel Legall (Providence, RI) is ranked 14th in the region in the long jump, while also being a member of the 10th-ranked 4x400m relay team. Senior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) is ranked fourth in the region in the 60m hurdles and 14th in the 400m. He is a member of the 10th-ranked 4x400m relay as well.

 

Sophomore Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) rounds out the ranked Anchormen, coming in eighth in the weight throw and 14th in the shot in the region.

The Anchorwomen have two more student-athletes ranked in the region. Freshman Alicia Holloway (Providence, RI) is a member of the fifth-ranked 4x400m squad, while also being ranked 15th in the 60m hurdles. Sophomore Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) earned a third place regional ranking in the weight throw.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2015 N.E. Alliance Championships on Saturday, Feb. 14 (10 a.m.) at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.
