CURRAN EARNS ALL-NEW ENGLAND HONORS
AS ANCHORWOMEN COMPETE AT
NEISDA CHAMPIONSHIPS

North Kingstown, R.I.-Freshman Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished seventh in the 50-yard breaststroke to earn All-New England honors as the Rhode Island College women’s swimming team competed at the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships hosted by the University of Rhode Island on Friday and Saturday Feb. 13-14.

 

RIC finished 16th (20 teams) with a two-day score of 105. Keene State won the meet with a score of 1,146.5. The third and final day of competition will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21.

 

Curran finished seventh in the 50-yard breaststroke (33.06) and  22nd in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.53). She broke her own program record in the preliminaries of the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 32.43.

Freshman Taylor Ryan (Warwick, RI) placed 28th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.53).

 

The 400-yard medley relay team consisting of Curran, junior Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI), Ryan and sophomore Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) placed 14th (4:29.47).

 

The 200-yard freestyle relay consisting of Curran, Soria, McCutcheon and Ryan placed 15th (1:50.15). The 200-yard medley relay consisting of Soria, Ryan, Curran and McCutcheon placed 15th (2:04.65).
