CUMMINS, FORBES & VAZQUEZ EARN
ALL-NEW ENGLAND HONORS

Springfield, Mass.-Sophomore Steve Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) earned All-New England honors with a first place finish in the high jump to pace the Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team at the 2015 New England Div. III Indoor Menís Track and Field Championships hosted by Springfield on Saturday.

 

The Anchormen placed 14th (26 teams) at the event with 22.0 points. MIT earned the victory with 129.0 points.

 

 

 

Vazquez set a new school record, breaking the mark he previously established, in the high jump (2.16m).

 

Senior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors with a third place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.43). He also finished 11th in the high jump (1.88m).

 

Junior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) earned All-New England honors with a third place finish in the weight throw (18.05m).

 

Freshman Akiel Legall (Providence, RI) placed ninth in the long jump (6.46m) and 17th in the 200m (23.62).

 

Sophomore Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) placed 13th in the weight throw (15.05m) and 20th in the shot (12.86m). Freshman John Brapoh (Providence, RI) placed 14th in the 60m hurdles (8.63). Sophomore Seth Larbi (Pawtucket, RI) placed 18th in the weight throw (13.64m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the N.E. Open Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28.
