WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON WITH, 188.350-179.300, LOSS AT SPRINGFIELD
Anchorwomen Ready for NCGA East Regional Championship

Springfield, Mass.-Junior Emma Hartan (Hebron, CT) registered the sixth-highest vault score in team history as the Rhode Island College women's gymnastics team fell to Springfield, 188.350-179.300, in the regular season finale for both clubs on Sunday afternoon.

 

Hartanís vault (9.525) was the third-best score on the day for that event. She also registered the best score of the day for the Anchorwomen on floor (9.375).

 

Springfield was led by sophomore Marissa DeAngelo (Brookfield, CT), senior Abby Clark (Holderness, NH) and senior Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, CT) who took the top three positions in the all-around for the Pride. Clark recorded the highest score of the day for either team with a 9.675 on floor.  

 

 

 Senior Ashley Mertens

 

RIC sophomore Emily Murphy (Hampden, MA) was ninth overall on vault (9.250). She also competed on bars (8.575) and recorded the third-best beam score for the team  (8.875).

 

Freshman Erin Shea (Braintree, MA) scored on vault (9.350) and floor (9.100) with classmate Courtney Osborn (Pomfret, CT) competing on vault (9.450), bars (8.900), beam (9.300) and floor (9.250) for an all-around total of 36.900, the fourth-highest all-around score of the afternoon.

 

Senior Ashley Mertens (Wakefield, RI) recorded an 8.500 on beam for the Anchorwomen.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2015 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Regional Championship, hosted by Ursinus on Saturday, April 14 (noon).
