RIC TO SEND FOUR TO NCAA INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Cummins & Vazquez Qualify for Men;
Braboy & Wosencroft Qualify for Women

Providence, R.I.-Two men and two women will represent Rhode Island College at the 2015 NCAA Menís & Womenís Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held in Winston Salem, N.C. on Friday and Saturday Mar. 13-14.

 

Senior Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) and junior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) will represent the Anchorwomen in the 400m, while junior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) and sophomore Steve Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) will compete in the weight throw and high jump, respectively.

 

Braboy took 14th place in the triple jump (11.11m) and 15th place in the 400m (57.69) at the 2015 N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27-28. She took home All-New England honors with a second place finish in the 400m (58.51) and a fifth place finish in the triple jump (11.48m), which was a new program record, at the 2015 N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21. Braboy earned N.E. Alliance honors in five events: the triple jump (1st, 11.15m), 4x400m relay (1st, 4:09.16), 400m (2nd, 58.67), 200m (4th, 26.61) and the 60m (5th, 8.20) at the 2015 N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 14.

 

 

 

Wosencroft placed eighth in the 400m (57.12) at the 2015 N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27-28.She captured All-New England honors by finishing first in both the 400m (58.48) and second in the 200m (25.97), while also finishing ninth in the long jump (5.14m), at the 2015 N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21.Wosencroft earned N.E. Alliance honors in five events: the 400m (1st, 58.31), 4x400m relay (1st, 4:09.16), 200m (1st, 26.05), long jump (2nd, 5.34m) and the 60m (6th, 8.21) at the 2015 N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 14.

 

Cummins placed fifth in the weight throw (18.19m) at the 2015 N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27-28. He earned All-New England honors with a third place finish in the weight throw (18.05m) at the 2015 N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21. Cummins took home the Alliance crown in the weight throw (18.44m), while also placing 10th in the shot (12.70m), at the 2015 N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 14.

 

Vazquez placed first in the high jump (2.14m) at the 2015 N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27-28. He earned All-New England honors with a first place finish in the high jump (2.16) at the 2015 N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21. Vazquez earned N.E. Alliance honors in two events at the 2015 N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 14. He finished first in the high jump (2.14m) and also finished eighth in the triple jump (13.12m).
