ASIEDU NAMED LITTLE EAST MEN'S SOCCER
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Senior forward Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, RI) was named the Little East Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 1-1 week for the Anchormen.

 

The Anchormen split a pair of overtime contests on the week, defeating Worcester State, 2-1, on Sept. 3, before falling to intra-state rival Roger Williams, 2-1, on Sept. 6. Asiedu scored the overtime game-winner off an indirect kick in the 93rd minute against the Lancers to give the Anchormen the victory. In the second game of the week, Asiedu opened the scoring with a header in the 17th minute, but it wasnít enough as the Anchormen fell in overtime, 2-1, to the Hawks.

 

 

 

For the week Asiedu tallied three shots on goal and scored twice, moving him into a tie for second place on the LECís scoring list. He has played in three games, starting all of them and has two goals for four points.

 

Head Coach John Mello's Anchormen are currently 1-2 overall.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host WPI on Wednesday, Sept. 10 (6 p.m.).
