Pomfret, Conn.-Nichols College freshman Gage Fox (Brandon, FL) earned victories in both singles and doubles to lead the Bison to a 9-0 victory over Rhode Island College in menís tennis action played at The Pomfret School on Friday afternoon.


Bison (3-2) senior Brandon Roode (Griswold, CT) and freshman Keenan Hughes (Aurora, NY) topped the RIC duo of senior Tim Holzinger (Foster, RI) and sophomore Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI), 8-3, at No. 1 doubles.


Nichols seniors Andrew Haas (Whitinsville, MA) and Cam Lewis (Bolton, CT) topped the RIC pairing of freshmen Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) and Josh Pimental (Smithfield, RI), 8-1, at No. 2 doubles, with Fox and graduate student Paul Armstrong (New Preston, CT) defeating junior Cory Duquette (Warwick, RI) and senior Brian Gil (North Providence, RI), 8-0 to earn the sweep of doubles points for the Bison.


Nichols swept singles action, with Roode defeating Holzinger (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 singles. No. 2 singles saw junior Josh Halpern (Secaucus, NJ) top Taggart (6-0, 6-0). No. 3 singles saw Nichols sophomore Jake Zapatka (Wethersfield, CT) top Pimental (6-0, 6-0) with Fox defeating Tiberi (6-2, 6-0) at the No. 4 flight.


Amrstrong topped Gil at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-3), while sophomore Dan Roberts (South Windsor, CT) defeated Duquette (6-0, 6-3) at the No. 6 flight.  


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Clark on Wednesday, March 18 (4 p.m.).
