ANCHORWOMEN PLACE SIXTH AT LITTLE EAST WOMEN'S SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

North Dartmouth, Mass.-Freshman Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished fifth in both the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke to lead the Rhode Island College women's swimming team to a sixth place (seven teams) finish at 2014 Little East Conference Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon

 

RIC finished with 89.0 points, while Keene State took the championship with 668.5 points.

 

Curran placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.27) and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:47.34) to pace the Anchorwomen on the afternoon.

Freshman Taylor Ryan (Warwick, RI) finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.30) and 14th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.61).

 

Junior Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) placed eighth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.34) and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.37).

 

Sophomore Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) placed 23rd in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.65) and 14th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:39.17).

 

 Freshman Samantha Roberts (Willington, CT) finished 18th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:41.79), 31st in the 100-yard freestyle (1:17.09) and 33rd in the 50-yard freestyle (35.50).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 10 (1 p.m.).
