VAZQUEZ EQUALS PROGRAM RECORD IN HIGH JUMP AT JAY CARISELLA INVITATIONAL

Roxbury, Mass.-Sophomore Steven Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) recorded a first place finish in the high jump (2.08m), which ties his program record, to pace the Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team at the 2014 Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday afternoon. 

 

It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Junior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) placed second in the weight throw (17.34m) and 25th in the shot (12.40m).

Senior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) finished seventh in the 60m hurdles (8.69) and 10th in the 400m (51.65).

 

Freshman Akiel Legall (Providence, RI) finished third in the long jump (6.53m), 12th in the 60m (7.17) and 17th in the 200m (23.26). Freshman Josue Astacio (Providence, RI) placed 11th in the 800m (2:03.69).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Yale Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 10.
