RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE WOMEN’S TENNIS PICKED NO. 1 IN LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

Providence, R.I.-After reaching the Little East Conference Tournament championship match for the second consecutive season a year ago, the Rhode Island College women’s tennis team has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Little East Conference in 2015 after a vote by the league’s nine coaches.

It is the second consecutive season that the Anchorwomen have been tabbed as the preseason favorites. Last year the Anchorwomen reached the Little East title match and fell to Plymouth State on the road.

Head Coach Adam Spring brings back four All-Little East selections from a season ago, including junior Julie Reddy (Smithfield, RI), who earned First Team honors at both No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles.

RIC finished the poll with two first place votes and 73 points. Bridgewater State picked up a pair of first place votes and was selected second with 67 points. Defending champions Plymouth State picked up the most first place votes, five, and were selected to finish third with 66 points. UMass Dartmouth (55 points), Worcester State (37 points), Salem State (34 points), UMass Boston (33 points), Western Connecticut (23 points) and Southern Maine (12 points) rounded out the poll.
