DOGBEY'S GOAL HELPS ANCHORMEN SALVAGE SPLIT AT PRESIDENT'S CUP

Mahwah, N.J.--Sophomore forward Komla Dogbey (Providence, RI) scored, while junior goalkeeper Chris Moura (Rumford, RI) made four saves, as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team downed Western New England, 1-0, in the consolation game of the 2015 President's Cup, hosted by Ramapo on Sunday afternoon.

 

It was the first win (1-2) of the season for the Anchormen, who lost yesterday, 3-1, to Elms in semifinal action. The Golden Bears (1-2) were coming off a loss to the hosts yesterday.

Dogbey netted an unassisted tally in the 35th minute, and Moura, along with a team defensive effort, kept WNEU from tallying the equalizer for the remainder of the contest.

 

Western New England held an advantage in shots, 9-8, and corner kicks, 7-3. WNE's Kevin Strobel made two saves in the loss.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Regis on Saturday, Sept. 12 (11 a.m.).
