MALBOEUF & LACE LEAD ANCHORWOMEN
TO PAIR OF VICTORIES

Middletown, Conn.-Rhode Island College senior outside hitter Kelsey Lace (Glendale, RI) recorded 35 kills, with classmate outside hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) tacking on 23 more, as the Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team went 2-0 at a tri-match hosted by Wesleyan at Silloway Gym on Saturday afternoon.

 

The opening contest of the day saw RIC (3-3) top Worcester State (2-3), 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-16, 25-17). Malboeuf and Lace led the way offensively, combining for 28 kills and three service aces. Sophomore setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) paced the Anchorwomen with 34 assists to go along with nine digs, while junior Libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) led the team with 16 digs. RIC hit .268 in the match as a team.

The second match saw the Anchorwomen best the host Cardinals (2-1), 3-1 (27-25, 26-24, 6-25, 25-16). Lace (20 kills, 17 digs), Malboeuf (10 kills, 13 digs) and White (33 assists, 10 digs) all recorded double-doubles for the Anchorwomen. Armburg (14 digs) and freshman setter Cassia Spivey (East Providence, RI) (12 digs) were also in double digit digs for RIC.

 

RIC finished the day with 93 kills, 84 assists, 18 service aces, 118 digs and 11 blocks as a team.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Lasell on Tuesday, Sept. 15 (6 p.m.).
