ANCHORMEN TAKE HOME MCLA TRAILBLAZER
INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

North Adams, Mass.--Rhode Island College posted a team score of 321 and won the 2015 MCLA Trailblazer Invitational, which was played at the Berkshire Hills Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen and Cobleskill tied for the top spot with identical team scores, but won on a tiebreaker.

 

 

 

Freshman Tim Welles (Newington, CT) carded a score of 85, which was 18th overall and beat Cobleskillís No. 5 player by a stroke to give the Anchormen the title.

 

Senior Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) tied for second (35 competitors) with a score of 77. Sophomore Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) tied for third with a score of 78.

 

Junior Steven Letterle (Cranston, RI) tied for 10th with a score of 82, while senior Peter Camerlengo (Pembroke, MA) finished 17th with a score of 84.

 

Westfield State (323), Cobleskillís B squad (337), Worcester State (339), MCLA (356) and Green Mountain (436) rounded out the seven-team field.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Elms Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26-27.
