RIC WINS THIRD STRAIGHT IN, 3-0,
SHUTOUT VICTORY OVER LASELL

Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College senior outside hitter Kelsey Lace (Glendale, RI) recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs as the women’s volleyball team swept Lasell 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-20), in non-conference action played at The Murray Center on Tuesday night.

 

RIC (4-3) won for the third consecutive match. Freshman outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) finished with six kills, two services aces and a .333 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) finished with a match-best 29 assists, while junior libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) finished with a team-high 17 digs.

Lasell (1-10) was paced by sophomore middle blocker Odina Ellis (Providence, RI), who finished with a team-best nine kills. Sophomore setter Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, CT) led the Lasers with 18 assists and sophomore Libero Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, CA) finished with a match-best 23 digs.

 

The Anchorwomen breezed through the first set, hitting .226 as a team to secure the 25-17 set victory. The next two matches were a much closer battle, with the two teams trading the lead, until late when RIC was able to pull away for victories in both sets.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East Conference play at Keene State, and also face Framingham State, on Saturday, Sept. 19.
