Keene, N.H.-Senior outside hitter Kelsey Lace (Glendale, RI) notched team highs in kills (53), digs (24) and service aces (5) as the Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team dropped two matches at played at Keene State's Spaulding Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.


The Anchorwomen (4-5, 0-1 LEC) fell to the host Keene State (9-3, 1-0 LEC), 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-13), in their first Little East action of the year, while also falling to Framingham State (9-2), 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-13) in non-conference action.


Lace led the attack in the match against the Owls, notching a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) also notched a double-double with 27 assists and 10 digs.

In the match against the Rams, Lace notched another double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.  Junior middle blocker Sierra Smith (Longmont, CO) finished second on the team with eight kills during the match.


RIC was led by Lace who finished the day with 53 combined kills, 24 digs, five aces and a 3.83 kills/set average. White led the squad with 53 assists on the day while also chipping in a combined 17 digs.


Senior outside hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) finished second on the team with 11 kills on the day while also contributing nine digs. The Anchorwomen finished with 60 kills as a team, 58 assists, nine service aces and 88 digs.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Eastern Nazarene on Monday, Sept. 21 (6 p.m.).
