Boston, Mass.-Rhode Island College senior Tressa Cannata (Cranston, RI) was one of three Anchorwomen to blank their opponent in singles action as the Anchorwomen bested Little East Conference foe UMass Boston, 9-0, for their seventh consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon at the BC High School Courts.


RICís (7-1, 4-0 LEC) Cannata and sophomore Laura Nastasi (Smithville, NJ) teamed up at No. 3 doubles to top UMBís (3-4, 2-2 LEC) pairing of senior Nurcin Celebi (Istanbul, Turkey) and sophomore Meghan Erickson (Hubbardston, MA), 8-3.


No. 1 doubles saw RIC sophomore Dayna Reilly (Swansea, MA) and junior Julie Reddy (Smithfield, RI) top senior Logan Smith (Southwick, MA) and sophomore Kristy Garcia (Miami, FL), 8-6.

The Anchorwomen completed the doubles sweep when senior Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, RI) and junior Jorgie Martin (Greenville, RI) bested the Boston junior pairing of Vicky Woytowicz (Springfield, MA) and Kelsey Shea (West Bridgewater, MA), 8-3, at No. 2 doubles.


Reilly beat Garcia (6-1, 6-1) at No. 1 singles with Campanella defeating Smith (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 2 spot.


Reddy continued her winning ways at No. 3 singles, defeating Celebi (6-0, 6-0), while Cannata defeated Woytowicz (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 4 flight.


Nastasi defeated Erickson (6-4, 6-0) at No. 5 singles with Martin being pushed to the limit against Shea, dropping the first set by a score of 6-4 before rebounding to take set two, 6-4, and the super tie breaker 11-9.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Curry on Monday, Sept. 28 (3:30 p.m.).
