Willimantic, Conn.-Sophomore setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) registered a team-best 51 assists as the Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team fell to Little East rival Eastern Connecticut, 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 19-25, 18-25), on Tuesday evening.


The Anchorwomen (16-11, 2-4 LEC) took a victory in the first set before dropping the next three sets to the Warriors (12-14, 3-3 LEC) in the pivotal LEC match-up. RIC lost to EC, 3-2, in the two clubs’ last meeting on Oct. 17.

Senior outside hitter Kelsey Lace (Glendale, RI) led the Anchorwomen with 19 kills to go along with 10 digs and two blocks. Fellow senior outside hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Junior libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) notched a team-high 14 digs.


The Warriors were paced by junior outside hitter Hannah Bryant (Avon, CT) who knocked in 15 winners on a .481 attack percentage. Junior outside hitter Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury, CT) registered a team-high 17 kills on a .342 hitting percentage with freshman setter Leah Sopneski (Deep River, CT) chipping in 18 assists in the victory.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 31 (1 p.m.).
