Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College Athletic Department will be holding tryouts to be the Anchorman, RIC’s official mascot, on Friday, Nov. 13 from Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center.


Tryouts will be open to both male and female Rhode Island College students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. The Anchorman mascot is expected to be highly outgoing and energetic, friendly, and must display good sportsmanship at all times while keeping the fans involved and engaged. Due to costume constraints, applicants must be 5’10” or shorter. 




Check-in and registration will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center. Please have your Rhode Island College student ID with you upon check-in. Tryouts will start promptly at noon. All interested students must wear athletic attire and flat-bottomed athletic shoes with laces. We ask that you please prepare a 2-3 minute routine displaying your creativity and skills (please bring your own music, if necessary). 


The Anchorman mascot is required to attend Rhode Island College athletic events and be available for on-campus and off-campus appearances.  This paid position requires a time commitment of 5-15 hours per week depending on the time of the year and appearance requests. Applicants must be willing to work nights and weekends.
