WOMEN'S TRACK FINISHES FIFTH
AT SILFEN INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.-Rhode Island College senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) notched three first place finishes to lead the Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field team at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday.

 

The Anchorwomen finished fifth (19 teams) with a score of 67.5. Tufts won the meet with a score of 143.5.

 

Wosencroft finished first in the 200m (25.40) and first in the 400m (57.95), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x100m (50.17) and the 4x400m relays.

 

Freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) finished second in the 100m hurdles (15.63; new program record), second in the high jump (1.68m) and third in the long jump (5.42m), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x100m (50.17) and the 4x400m relays.

 

 

Sophomore Sydney Curran

 

Sophomore Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished fourth in the pole vault (2.75m).

 

Junior Lauren Deguire (Blackstone, MA) finished 16th in the 3,000m steeplechase (13:37.90), while also competing as a member of the fifth place 4x800m relay (10:54.44).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will compete at the MIT Invitational on Saturday, April 23 (10 a.m.).
