COOPER WINS INDIVIDUAL TITLE AS ANCHORMEN WIN SPRING SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

Cranston, R.I.-Rhode Island College senior Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) claimed the individual title by finishing first overall (100 competitors) with a two-day score of 149 (72, 77) to help lead the Anchormen to a second place finish at the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Spring Invitational played at Cranston Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Rhode Island College carded a score of 636 (315, 321) to tie with Endicott (329, 307) at the second spot. Williams won the invitational with a score of 630 (320, 310) among a field of 19 teams.

 

 With their score of 636, the Anchormen won the Spring Series Championship among a 12-team field that competed at the RIC Spring Invitational (Apr. 1), UMass Dartmouth's Hampton Inn Invitational (Apr. 8-9) and the Wildcat Invitational. Rhode Island College's five-round total score of 1,598 was the lowest and led them to the title.

 

 

 

Freshman Tom Sheran (Marston Mills, MA) finished tied for 10th with a score of 158 (79, 79), while senior Pete Camerlengo (Pembroke, MA) finished in a tie for 15th with a score of 159 (79, 80).

Junior Steven Letterle (Cranston, RI) finished tied for 50th with a score of 170 (85, 85). Senior Drew Quirk (Longmeadow, MA) finished tied for 88th with a score of 182 (95, 87).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Elms Blazers Invitational on Tuesday, April 19.
