WOSENCROFT AND BRUNELLE CLAIM WEEKLY LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD AWARDS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) and freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) was recognized the Little East Conference for their respective performances at Connecticut College’s Silfen Invitational on April 16.

 

 

 Senior Autumn Wosencroft

 

Wosencroft was named the Little East Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. She finished first in the 200m (25.40) and first in the 400m (57.95), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x100m (50.17) and the 4x400m relays.

 

 

 Freshman Melanie Brunelle

 

Brunelle was named the Little East Conference Women’s Rookie Field Athlete of the Week. She finished second in the 100m hurdles (15.63; new program record), second in the high jump (1.68m) and third in the long jump (5.42m), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x100m (50.17) and the 4x400m relays.

 

Head Coach Timothy Rudd’s team finished fifth (19 teams) with a score of 67.5. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the MIT Invitational on Saturday, April 23.
