EDWARD APICE NAMED LITTLE EAST
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior right fielder Edward Apice (North Kingstown, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-3 week for the Anchormen.

 

Apice batted .611 (11-for-18) with 11 hits, one double, five home runs, seven runs scored and 13 RBI. He began the week by going 3-for-3 with three hits, one double and one home run to go along with three runs scored and six RBI in a 15-6 victory over Springfield on Apr. 18. He followed that performance with a 2-for-3 effort in a loss at UMass Dartmouth on Apr. 19.

 

 

 

Apice had a monster day in a 19-10 victory over Framingham State on April 21, going 4-for-5 with four home runs, four runs scored and seven RBI. He went a combined 2-for-7 in a pair of losses against Eastern Connecticut on Apr. 23.

 

For the season, Apice has played in 33 games, starting all of them. He is batting .333 (40-for-120) with 40 hits, 12 doubles, six homers, 24 runs scored and 35 RBI to go along with a pair of stolen bases. He leads the Anchormen in hits, doubles, homers and slugging percentage (.583).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Fitchburg State on Friday, April 29 (3:30 p.m.).
