BRUNELLE AND GRAMMAS RECEIVE WEEKLY
LITTLE EAST TRACK AND FIELD HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshmen Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) and Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances at the N.E. Alliance Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, April 30.

 

Brunelle was named the Little East Conference Women’s Rookie Field Athlete of the Week. Brunelle earned N.E. Alliance honors with a second place finish in the triple jump (11.21m), third in both the high jump (1.53m) and the 400m hurdles (1:05.80) and finished fourth in the long jump (5.32m). She also placed ninth in the 100m hurdles (16.14), while also competing as a member of the fifth place 4x100m relay (49.11).

Grammas was named the Little East Conference Women’s Rookie Track Athlete of the Week. She earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish in the 100m (12.65), while notching a ninth place finish in the 200m (26.81) and competing as a member of the fifth place 4x100m relay (49.11).

The Anchorwomen finished seventh in the Alliance (12 teams) with a score of 52.5. RIC finished fifth (seven teams) in the Little East with a score of 76.0.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by MIT on Saturday, May 7.
