2016 Rhode Island College Menís Tennis Season Summary

Providence, R.I.-Head Coach Lorne Teeterís (31-73; .298) finished the 2016 season with a 3-13 record overall and a 1-5 mark (sixth place) in the Little East Conference.

 

The Anchormen secured the sixth seed for the 2016 Little East Conference Menís Tennis Tournament and saw their season come to a close when they fell to No. 3-seeded UMass Boston, 5-1, on May 4.

 

 

 

Junior Cory Duquette (Warwick, RI) went 6-9 (.400) at primarily No. 5 singles, while going 4-11 (.267) at primarily No. 3 doubles for 8.0 points on the season.

 

Junior Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI) went 0-15 (.000) at No. 1 singles and 2-14 (.125) at No. 1 doubles for 1.0 points on the year.

 

Sophomore Sam Perry (Smithfield, RI) went 0-1 (.000) at No. 3 singles.

 

Sophomore Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) went 1-15 (.063) at No. 2 singles and 2-14 (.125) at No. 1 doubles for 2.0 points on the year.

 

Freshman Alan Esposito (Clinton, CT) was named Second Team All-Little East at No. 2 doubles. He went 5-9 (.357) at primarily No. 3 singles and 6-10 (.375) at primarily No. 2 doubles for 8.0 points on the year. Esposito was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week once on the year.

 

Freshman Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, RI) was named Second Team All-Little East Conference at No. 2 doubles and was named the teamís MVP. He went 12-4 (.750) at mainly No. 6 singles and 6-10 (.375) at primarily No. 2 doubles for 15.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Chandler Scott (Ashaway, RI) went 2-14 (.125) at No. 3/No. 4 singles and 4-11 (.267) at primarily No. 3 doubles for 4.0 points on the year.
