GRAMMAS & BRUNELLE EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST TRACK AWARDS

Providence, R.I.-Four Rhode Island College womenís track and field student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances at the Springfield Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 5.

 

The Anchorwomen finished fourth (four teams) with a score of 82.0. Springfield won the meet with a score of 181.0.

 

Freshman Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) was named the Little East Conference Womenís Indoor Rookie Track Athlete of the Week and was also named to the LECís Relay Team of the Week.

Grammas finished fourth in the 400m (1:03.88), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:47.65) and second place 4x400m relay (4:12.62).

 

Freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) was named the Little East Conference Womenís Indoor Rookie Field Athlete of the Week and was also named to the LECís Relay Team of the Week.

Brunelle finished first in the high jump (1.62m), first in the triple jump (10.79m) and second in the long jump (5.09m), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:47.65) and second place 4x400m relay (4:12.62).

Freshman Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) and senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) joined the pair on the Little East Relay Team of the Week for their first place performance in the 4x200m (1:47.65).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Northeastern Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 12.
