CUMMINS LEADS ANCHORMEN AT
JAY CARISELLA INVITATIONAL

Boston, Mass.--Senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) recorded a second place finish in the weight throw (18.57m) to lead the Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field squad at the Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern on Saturday afternoon.

 

It was an individual meet for all Div. II and III participating institutions. New Hampshire won the Div. I portion with a score of 189.0.

 

Along with his second place finish, Cummins also placed 16th in the shot (12.73m). Junior Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) placed third in the weight throw (16.48m) and ninth in the shot (14.16m).

Sophomore Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) placed seventh in the triple jump (12.23m) and 16th in the 60m hurdles (8.91).

 

Sophomore Matthew Charles (North Providence, RI) finished 17th in the 200m (23.21) and 20th in the 60m (7.34). Sophomore Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) finished eighth in the weight throw (15.02m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 16.
