CUMMINS WINS WEIGHT THROW AT
SCARLET AND WHITE INVITATIONAL

Boston, Mass.--Rhode Island College senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) notched one first place finish to lead the menís indoor track & field team at the Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen finished eighth (30 teams) in the meet which featured competitors from all three NCAA divisions with a score of 25.0. George Mason won the meet with a score of 105.0.

 

Cummins finished first in the weight throw (18.76m). Junior Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) finished fifth in the weight throw (16.21m) and eighth in the shot (14.06m).

 

Freshman Newell Roberts (Providence, RI) finished sixth in the pole vault (4.20m). Sophomore Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) finished sixth in the 60m hurdles (8.98), 12th in the triple jump (12.13m) and 27th in the long jump (5.61m).

Sophomore Matthew Charles (North Providence, RI) finished eighth in the long jump (6.54m) and 24th in the 200m (22.60). Sophomore Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) finished seventh in the weight throw (15.68m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Plymouth State to compete at the 2016 Little East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 13 (10 a.m.).
