BRUNELLE BREAKS TWO RECORDS AT
SCARLET AND WHITE INVITATIONAL

Boston, Mass.--Rhode Island College freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) notched three top-five finishes and broke two school records to lead the women’s indoor track & field team at the Scarlet and White Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen finished 10th (26 teams) in the meet which features competitors from all three NCAA divisions with a score of 14.0. UCF won the meet with a score of 79.0.

 

Brunelle finished second in the high jump (1.65m), fifth in the 500m (1:14.53; school record) and fifth in the triple jump (11.56m; school record).

Senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) finished 16th in the 400m (58.74), 18th in the long jump (5.05m) and 38th in the 200m (26.08).

 

Freshman Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) finished 24th in the 60m (8.25) and 53rd in the 200m (26.80). Junior Lauren Deguire (Blackstone, MA) finished 19th in the 1000m (3:19.77).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Plymouth State to compete at the 2016 Little East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 13 (10 a.m.).
