BRUNELLE CLAIMS THREE INDIVIDUAL TITLES AT N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Plymouth, N.H.-Rhode Island College freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in five events, which included three individual titles, to lead Rhode Island College at the 2016 New England Alliance Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Plymouth State on Saturday.

 

The Anchorwomen finished fourth (11 teams) in the Alliance with 77.50 points. Southern Maine won the meet with a score of 172.0 RIC finished second (seven teams) in the Little East Conference.

 

Brunelle finished first in the 600m (1:37.12; new program record), long jump (5.32m) and in the triple jump (11.43m). She also finished second in the high jump (1.58m) and as a member of the 4x200m relay (1:45.91).

Senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) earned N.E Alliance honors in four events. She finished third in both the 400m (59.65) and the 200m (26.37) and fifth in the long jump (5.05m). She also finished second as part of the 4x200m relay (1:45.91).

 

Freshman Darchelle Judd (Providence, RI) earned a pair of N.E. Alliance honors, finishing sixth in the 200m (26.76) and second as part of the 4x200m relay (1:45.91).

 

In upcoming action, The Anchorwomen travel to Middlebury for the New England Div. III Championships on Friday and Saturday Feb. 19-20 (11 a.m.).
