CUMMINS CLAIMS N.E. DIV. III
TITLE IN THE WEIGHT THROW

Cambridge, Mass.--Rhode Island College senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) captured a New England title by finishing first in the weight throw (18.57m) to lead the menís indoor track & field team at the 2016 New England Div. III Championships hosted by MIT on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen finished 13th (26 teams) with a score of 19.0. MIT won the meet with a score of 138.0.

Junior Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) earned a pair of All-New England honors, finishing fourth in the shot (14.57m) and fifth in the weight throw (15.71m).

 

Senior Christian Colavecchio (Foster, RI) finished 10th in the weight throw (14.89m). Junior Joel Ikuejamofo (Providence, RI) finished 13th in the 400m (51.37).

 

Sophomore Matthew Charles (North Providence, RI) finished 14th in the 200m (23.18).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will compete at the N.E. Open Championships hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27.
