2015-16 Rhode Island College Womenís Gymnastics
Season Summary

Providence, R.I.-Head Coach Bob Nannigís team finished the 2015-16 season with a 1-5 record overall and a 1-4 record against National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) competition. The Anchorwomen qualified a pair of all-arounders for the NCGA National Championships, but did not qualify as a team.

 

RIC wrapped up its season with a sixth place (six teams) finish at the NCGA East Regional, hosted by Ithaca College, with a score of 181.075 on March 6. The 181.075 effort the highest score for the program since Feb. 19, 2005 when RIC fell at MIT, 182.250-181.125.

 

The Anchorwomen also snapped a 16-match losing streak dating back to Mar. 4, 2012 when they topped Ithaca, 179.275-164.050, on Feb 21, 2016. The win also marked the first time RIC has defeated or finished ahead of another NCAA women's gymnastics program in 33 straight competitions dating back to the 2012 ECAC Championships.

 

 

 

Senior Emma Hartan (Hebron, CT) wrapped up her four-year career in 2015-16 by being named an NCGA Academic All-American. For the year, she averaged scores of 9.181 on vault, 8.614 on beam and 8.722 on floor. Hartan recorded a season-high score of 9.400 on vault at the Harriet Marranca Invitational on Feb. 28. She registered a season-best score of 9.200 on beam twice during the year, while scoring a season-high 9.250 on floor at the Brown Quad on Jan. 24.

 

As a junior in 2014-15, Hartan was named the team MVP and averaged scores of 9.188 on vault, 8.953 on beam and 9.075 on floor. She scored a season-high score of 9.525 on vault, which was the sixth-best result in school history, against Springfield on March 9. Hartan scored a season-best 9.475, which tied the second-best score in program history, on beam twice on the year. She recorded a season-high score of 9.375 on floor against Springfield on March 9.

 

As a sophomore in 2013-14, Hartan averaged scores of 8.900 on floor, 8.663 on vault and 8.518 on beam for the year. She registered a season-high score of 9.250 on floor at the Ithaca Tri on Feb. 15, a season-high score of 9.200 on beam at the College at Brockport on March 2 and a season-high score of 8.775 on vault at the ECAC Championships on March 8.

 

As a freshman in 2012-13, averaged scores of 8.800 on vault, 6.950 on bars, 8.031 on beam, 8.421 on floor and 33.575 in the all-around for the season. She compiled a score 33.575 in the all-around at the West Chester Quad on March 2 to go along with a season-high scores of 8.800 on vault and 7.800 on bars. She also posted season-high scores of 8.475 on beam and 8.975 on floor at the Springfield Tri on Jan. 13.

 

Hartan is a health sciences major with a minor in coaching and a 2012 graduate of RHAM High School.

 

Senior Kayla LaRoche (Millbury, MA) wrapped up her career at RIC in 2015-16 by being named an NCGA Academic All-American. She did not compete during the season due to an injury.

 

As a junior in 2014-15, LaRoche competed once on the season, scoring a 7.800 on floor at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 7.

 

As a sophomore in 2013-14, LaRoche averaged scores of 8.600 on floor and 8.350 on beam for the season. She posted season-high scores of 8.675 on floor and 8.550 on beam at the College at Brockport on March 2.

 

As a freshman in 2012-13, LaRoche averaged a score of 8.388 on vault for the season. She notched a season-high score of 8.875 on vault at the Brown Quad on Jan. 20, as well as a season-high 7.450 on beam at the West Chester Quad on March 2 and a season-high 6.300 on bars at Southern Connecticut on Jan. 26.

 

LaRoche is a justice studies major and an international nongovernmental organizations studies minor and a 2012 graduate of Millbury High School.

 

Senior Cherise Lee (Burlington, NJ) was named an NCGA Academic All-American in 2015-16. She suffered a season-ending injury at West Chester on Jan. 16 and will return next season for her final year of eligibility.

 

Junior Erin Craig (Weymouth, MA) averaged a score of 9.212 on vault with a season-best effort of 9.300 coming at the Brown Quad on Jan. 24.

 

Junior Jaclyn Hahn (Marion, MA) averaged a score of 8.336 on bars for the season, while recording a season-high 8.650 twice on the season.

 

Junior Megan McNeil (Pawcatuck, CT) averaged scores of 8.717 on bars and an 8.250 on beam. She tallied a season-best 8.750 on bars twice, while notching a season-high 8.250 on bars against Ithaca on Feb. 21.

 

Junior Emily Murphy (Hampden, CT) averaged scores of 7.438 on bars and an 8.425 on beam. She registered a season-best 7.625 on bars at Brockport on Feb. 7. Murphy tallied a season-best 9.250 on beam in the season-opening meet at Springfield on Jan. 9.

 

Junior Amanda Newton (Bellingham, MA) was a reserve on the team.

 

Sophomore Victoria Costello (Housatonic, MA) averaged scores of 9.275 on vault and an 8.500 on floor before an injury cut short her season. She tallied a season-best 9.400 on vault and 8.500 on floor during the season-opening meet at Springfield on Jan. 9.

 

Sophomore Meghan French (Shelton, CT) averaged a scorer8.478 on beam. She recorded a season-high mark of 8.850 against Springfield on Feb. 14.

 

Sophomore Cailee Mallory (Rye, NH) averaged a score of 8.975 on beam. She recorded a season-best score of 9.475 at the NCGA East Regional on Mar. 6.

 

Sophomore Courtney Osborn (Pomfret, CT) qualified for the NCGA National Championships in the all-around and finished 13th overall with a score of 36.525. She averaged scores of 9.280 on vault, 8.718 on bars, 8.944 on beam and a 9.015 on floor for an all-around average of 35.967. She scored a season-best 9.500 on vault twice during the year. Osborn registered season-highs of 9.125 on bars and 9.300 on floor at the NCGA Championships on Mar. 18. She recorded a season-best score of 9.375 on beam at the Yale Invitational on Feb. 13. Osborn scored a season-best score of 36.775 in the all-around at the Yale Invitational on Feb. 13. She was named the NCGA All-Around Gymnast of the Week once on the season.

 

Sophomore Alexandria Otis (Windham, NH) averaged a score of 8.885 on beam and an 8.710 on floor. She recorded a season-best score of 9.250 on beam at the NCGA East Regional on Mar. 6. Otis registered a season-high score of 9.200 on floor against Springfield on Feb. 14.

 

Sophomore Corrine Paul (North Easton, MA) averaged scores of 9.056 on vault and 8.386 on bars. She scored a season-best score of 9.350 on vault at the Brown Quad on Jan. 24. Paul recorded a season-high score of 8.950 on bars against Ithaca on Feb. 21.

 

Sophomore Erin Shea (Braintree, MA) was named the team MVP. She averaged scores of 9.316 on vault, 7.925 on beam and an 8.925 on floor. She registered a season-best score of 9.525 on vault at Brockport on Feb. 7. Shea scored a season-best 7.925 on beam at the West Chester Tri on Jan. 16. She notched a season-high 9.325 on floor at the NCGA East Regional on Mar. 6.

 

Sophomore Lacey Whitaker (Mansfield, MA) was a reserve on the team.

 

Freshman Mikayla Connor (Ivoryton, CT) was a reserve on the team.

 

Freshman Alexis daFonseca (Cranston, RI) averaged scores of 8.470 on beam and 8.600 on floor for the season. She registered a season-high score of 9.100 on beam at the West Chester Tri on Jan. 16. daFonseca scored a season-best 8.850 on floor at the Yale Invitational on Feb. 13.

 

Freshman Allie DiBiase (North Kingstown, RI) qualified for the NCGA National Championships in the all-around and finished 14th overall with a score of 36.450. She averaged scores of 9.245 on vault, 8.116 on bars, 8.612 on beam and 9.122 on floor for an all-around average of 35.269 for the season. She registered a season-best 9.350 on vault twice on the year. DiBiase scored season-highs of 8.625 on bars and 9.200 on beam at the NCGA East Regional on Mar. 6. She recorded her season-best score on floor, 9.650 and all-around point total (36.450) at the NCGA Nationals on Mar. 18. DiBiase was named the NCGA All-Around Gymnast of the Week once on the season.

 

Freshman Katie Judge (Fall River, MA) was a reserve on the team.

 

Freshman Beth Kaestner (Albuquerque, NM) averaged a score of 8.060 on bars. She recorded a season-best score of 8.550 at the Brown Quad on Jan. 24.

 

Freshman Miranda Murphy (Lansdale, PA) averaged scores of 8.322 on bars, 8.350 on beam and 8.563 on floor. She notched a season-best score of 9.075 on bars at the NCGA East Regional on Mar. 6. Murphy tallied a season-best score of 8.350 on beam at Brockport on Feb. 7. She notched a season-high 8.825 on floor at the West Chester Tri on Jan. 16.

 

Freshman Dagny Winner (Sharon, MA) was a reserve on the team.

 

Freshman Kyndell Yett (Carrollton, GA) averaged scores of 9.421 on vault and a 9.005 on floor. She notched a season-best score of 9.525 on vault, which tied for sixth-best in school history, at the Yale Invitational on Feb. 13. Yett scored a season-high score of 9.325 on floor against Ithaca on Feb. 21.
