2015-16 Rhode Island College
Women’s Indoor Track & Field Season Summary

Providence, R.I.-Head Coach Timothy Rudd’s team wrapped up the 2015-16 campaign by sending one student-athlete to the 2016 NCAA Div. III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships held in Grinnell, Iowa from March 11-12. RIC did not score as a team at the event.

 

Prior to the NCAA’s, the Anchorwomen finished 22nd (32 teams) with 8.0 points at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 26-27. They finished seventh (31 teams) with a score of 37.0 at the N.E. Div. III Championships Feb. 19-20. The Anchorwomen finished fourth (11 teams) in the Alliance and second (seven teams) in the Little East at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13.

 

 

 

Senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) finished first in the 400m (58.73) and eighth in the long jump (4.93m) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Mar. 4. She finished 22nd in the 400m (57.87; season-best) and 24th in the 200m (25.71; season-best) at the 2016 N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27. Wosencroft finished seventh in the 200m (26.15), 11th in the 400m (1:00.60) and 14th in the long jump (4.97m), while earning All-New England honors as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:44.19; field-house record) at the N.E. Div. III Championships Feb. 19-20. She earned N.E. Alliance honors in four events at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Wosencroft secured a second place finish in the 4x200m relay (1:45.91), finished third in both the 200m (26.37) and the 400m (59.65), and was fifth in the long jump (5.05m). She also finished seventh as part of the 4x400m relay (4:22.36) and 14th in the 60m (8.35; season-best).

 

She finished 16th in the 400m (58.74), 18th in the long jump (5.05m) and 38th in the 200m (26.08) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. Wosencroft finished 69th in the 400m (59.17), while also competing as a member of the 43rd place 4x400m relay (4:09.43) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. She finished first in the 200m (26.94) and second in the long jump (5.07m), while also competing as a member of the first place distance medley relay (14:35.48), at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Wosencroft finished first in the 55m (7.66; season-best), 200m (26.73) and the 4x400m relay (4:21.85), to go along with a second place effort in the long jump (5.02m), at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished eighth in the long jump (5.16m) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. Wosencroft finished first in the long jump (5.27m; season-best), 200m (26.66), and 4x200m relay (1:47.65), while finishing second in 4x400m relay (4:12.62), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

As a junior in 2014-15, Wosencroft finished 11th in the 400m (58.18) at the NCAA National Championships Mar. 13.  She placed eighth in the 400m (56.93; season-best) at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27-28. Wosencroft captured All-New England honors by finishing first in the 400m (58.48) and second in the 200m (25.97), while also placed ninth in the long jump (5.14m), at the N.E. Championships on Feb. 20-21. She earned N.E. Alliance honors in five events by placing first in the 400m (58.31), 200m (26.05) and as part of the 4x400m relay (4:09.16), while finishing second in the long jump (5.34m) and sixth in the 60m (8.21), at the Alliance on Feb. 14.

 

Wosencroft placed 12th in the 400m (57.16) and 19th in the long jump (4.91m) at the Scarlet & White Invitational on Feb. 7. She finished 18th in the long jump (5.21m), 34th in the 200m (25.54; season-best) and 51st in the 60m (8.21) at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 30. Wosencroft finished first in both the 60m (8.09) and the long jump (5.07m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She placed first in the 55m (7.65; season-best), 200m (27.00) and 400m (1:02.54), while also placing second in the long jump (5.01m) and fourth in the triple jump (10.24m; season-best), at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 17. Wosencroft placed ninth in the 200m (26.29), 11th in the 60m (8.05; season-best) and 13th in the long jump (4.88m) at the Yale Invitational on Jan. 10. She finished fifth in the long jump (5.36m; season-best) and sixth in the 200m (26.17) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 13. Wosencroft finished first in the 200m (26.66), while finishing second in the 60m (8.11), long jump (5.04m) and the 4x200m (1:50.11) and 4x400m (4:14.77) relays, at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 6.  She was a two-time Little East Track Athlete of the week selection on the season.

 

As a sophomore in 2013-14, Wosencroft was named the team's MVP. She finished 10th in the 400m preliminaries (56.84) and 15th in the long jump preliminaries (5.15m) at the 2014 NCAA Div. III Indoor Track & Field Championships held on March 14. She took first place in the long jump (5.45m) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on March 6. Wosencroft placed 11th in the long jump (5.35m) and 23rd in the 200m preliminaries (25.75) at the N.E. Open Championships on March 1. She earned a trio of All-New England honors with second place finishes in the 400m (59.07) and the long jump (5.60 m; program record) and a fifth-place finish in the 200m (26.15) at the New England Div. III Championships on Feb. 21-22. Wosencroft finished as the Alliance Champion in the long jump (5.58m) and also finished as the Alliance Champion in the 400m (57.77) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 15. She also earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 200m with a second place finish (26.07) and in the triple jump with a sixth-place finish (10.34m; season-best). Wosencroft finished eighth in the 55m (7.58; season-best) and was a member of the 4x400m relay team that earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish (4:13.32).

 

She finished 18th in the long jump (5.18m) and 30th in the 200m with a program-record time of 25.36 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 7.Wosencroft took first place in the long jump (5.20m), while placing second in the 200m (26.43), sixth in the triple jump (10.26m) and 10th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.41; season-best) at the Tufts Stampede Invitational on Feb. 1. She finished 15th in the 400m (56.42; season-best) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 24.Wosencroft placed third in both the 400m (58.36) and the long jump (5.20m) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 14. She took first place in the 60m (8.20; season-best), while also placing second in both the long jump (5.12m) and the 400m (59.88) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 7.

 

As a freshman in 2012-13, Wosencroft was a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished 10th overall at the 2013 NCAA Div. III Championships with a time of 3:54.86. Prior to that, she was a member of the 4x400m relay team that broke the previous program record with a third-place time of 3:53.01 at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on March 2. Wosencroft finished 28th in the preliminaries of the 400m with a season-high time of 58.96 at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 23. She earned All-New England honors with a fifth place finish and a season-best effort in the 200m (26.36) and as part of the 4x200m relay team which finished second (1:45.66), while also placing eighth in the 400m (59.67) and 11th in the long jump (4.98m) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 16. Wosencroft earned N.E. Alliance honors in the three events, placing fourth in the triple jump with a season-high mark of 10.31m, fifth in the 400m (1:00.32), sixth in the long jump with a season-high mark of 5.07 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 10. She also finished 10th in the 200m (26.76) and helped lead the 4x200m relay team to a first place finish and a program-record time of 1:44.50.

 

Wosencroft finished fifth in the long jump (4.90m), seventh in the 400m (1:01.37), 10th in the triple jump (10.24m) and 11th in the 200m (27.21) at the Tufts Stampede Invitational on Feb. 2. She finished 22nd in the long jump (4.85m), 26th in the triple jump (10.12m), and 61st in the 200m (26.51) at the B.U. Terrier Invitational on Jan. 26. Wosencroft placed fifth in both the 200m (27.21) and the long jump (4.67m), while also finishing seventh in the triple jump (9.74m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 19. She finished first in the 200m (27.89), second in the triple jump (9.69m), and third in the long jump (4.53m) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 12. Wosencroft placed third in the triple jump (10.25m), fourth in the 200m (27.24) and fifth in the long jump (4.74m) at the Southern Maine Invitational on Jan. 5. She placed 23rd in the long jump (4.70m) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 8. Wosencroft placed fifth in the long jump (4.73m) and seventh in the triple jump (9.80m) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 1.

 

Wosencroft is a justice studies major and a 2012 graduate of Rogers High School.

 

Junior Lauren Deguire (Blackstone, MA) competed as a member of the 15th-place 4x800m relay (10:38.51) at the N.E. Div. III Championships Feb. 19-20. She finished seventh in the 1,000m (3:20.33), while also competing as a member of the sixth place 4x800m relay (10:49.03), at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Deguire finished 19th in the 1,000m (3:19.77; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished 87th in the 1,000m (3:23.38) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. Deguire finished sixth in the 600m (1:58.60; season-best), while also competing as a member of the first place distance medley relay (14:35.48), at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished eighth in the 1,000m (3:36.62), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:36.46), at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. Deguire finished  19th in the 1,000m (3:21.76) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She finished seventh in the 5,000m (20:44.42; season-best), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:02.77), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Junior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) competed as a member of the 15th place 4x800m relay (10:38.51) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 19-20. She finished eighth in the 800m (2:33.63), while also competing as a member of the sixth place 4x800m relay (10:49.03), at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Lomas finished 42nd in the 800m (2:29.43; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished 124th in the 800m (2:34.92) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. Lomas finished sixth in the 1,000m (3:31.60; season-best), while also competing as a member of the first place distance medley relay (14:35.48), at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished fourth in the 800m (2:45.05) and 13th in the mile (6:31.79; season-best), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:36.46), at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. Lomas finished 11th in the 800m (2:30.97) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She finished fourth in the 800m (2:35.37), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:02.77), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Junior Michelle Sanchez (Warwick, RI) finished seventh in the weight throw (12.12m; season-best) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Mar. 4. She finished 14th in the weight throw (11.06m) and 20th in the shot (8.93m) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Sanchez finished 32nd in the shot (9.35m) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. Sanchez finished second in both the weight throw (11.82m) and the shot (9.38m; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished sixth in the weight throw (10.87m) and seventh in the shot (9.15m) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. Sanchez finished 21st in the weight throw (10.54m) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She finished seventh in the weight throw (11.25m) and eighth in the shot (9.02m) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Junior Sandra Semedo (Providence, RI) competed in the weight throw at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. She finished first in the weight throw (11.90m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Semedo finished third in the weight throw (12.75m; season-best) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished fifth in the weight throw (12.34m) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Junior Jessica Trautman (Narragansett, RI) finished 36th in the weight throw (9.48m; season-best) and 90th in the 200m (31.55) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished fourth in the weight throw (8.56m) and eighth in the 600m (2:17.10) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Trautman finished 10th in the 200m (33.00) and 10th in the weight throw (8.70m) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished 56th in the 200m (31.24; season-best) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. Trautman finished 11th in the 600m (2:09.97; season-best) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Sophomore Briana Lenihan (Saunderstown, RI) competed as a member of the 15th place 4x800m relay (10:38.51) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 19-20. She finished 10th in the 3,000m (11:30.20), while also competing as a member of the sixth place 4x800m relay (10:49.03), at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Lenihan finished 20th in the 3,000m (11:22.51; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished 88th in the 1,000m (3:23.45; season-best) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. Lenihan finished first in the 5,000m (22:52.54; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished ninth in the 1,000m (3:37.55) and 10th in the 3,000m (11:53.69), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:36.46), at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. Lenihan finished 21st in the 1,000m (3:25.97) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She competed as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:02.77) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Sophomore Tess Rhoat (Wakefield, RI) finished eighth in the 1,000m (4:53.11; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished 12th in the 800m (3:32.84; season-best) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Year and the Women’s Rookie Field Athlete of the Year. She finished 10th in the triple jump (11.64m) at the NCAA Div. III Women’s Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Mar. 11-12. Brunelle finished second in the high jump (1.64m) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Mar. 4. She finished second in the triple jump (11.86m; season-best) and 14th in the high jump (1.61m) at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 27. Brunelle earned four All-New England honors, finishing first in the high jump (1.68m; season-best), triple jump (11.68m; field house record) and the 4x200m relay (1:44.19; field house record), to go along with a fourth place finish in the 600m (1:37.75), at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 19-20. She earned a trio of N.E. Alliance titles, finishing first in the 600m (1:37.12; season-best), the long jump (5.32m; season-best) and the triple jump (11.43m) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Brunelle also earned N.E. Alliance honors with a second place finish in the 4x200m relay (1:45.91), a third place finish in the high jump (1.58m) and was seventh in the 60m hurdles (9.76).

 

She finished second in the high jump (1.65m), fifth in the triple jump (11.56m) and fifth in the 500m (1:14.53; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. Brunelle finished 12th in the triple jump (11.49m), 23rd in the high jump (1.55m) and 67th in the 60m hurdles (9.87), while also competing as a member of the 43rd place 4x400m relay (4:09.43), at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. She finished first in the 60m hurdles (9.85), high jump (1.62m) and the triple jump (11.03m), while also competing as a member of the first place distance medley relay (14:35.38), at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Brunelle finished first in the high jump (1.57m), long jump (5.06m), 600m (1:40.16), triple jump (10.75m), 4x200m relay (1:50.05) and the 4x400m relay (4:21.85) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished second in the triple jump (11.20m) and 15th in the high jump (1.55m) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. Brunelle finished first in both the high jump (1.62m) and the triple jump (10.79m), was second in the long jump (5.09m) and also competed as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:47.65) and the second place 4x400m relay (4:12.62), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5. She was named the Little East Conference Rookie Field Athlete of the Week nine times on the season.

 

Freshman Margaret Buckley (Norwich, CT) finished third in the 800m (3:20.02; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished ninth in the 600m (2:24.82; season-best) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. Buckley finished 13th in the 800m (3:33.35) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Rachel D’Ambrosio (Narragansett, RI) placed 40th in the weight throw (8.00m; season-best) at the Scarlet & White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished sixth in the weight throw (7.54m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 23.

 

Freshman Cheryl Eluwa (Cranston, RI) finished 18th in the 400m (1:08.04; season-best), while also competing as a member of the seventh place 4x400m relay (4:22.36) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. She finished 84th in the 200m (28.77; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. Eluwa finished 183rd in the 200m (29.29) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. She finished fifth in the 400m (1:10.03) and seventh in the 60m (9.14) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Eluwa finished seventh in the 200m (30.28) and eighth in the 55m (8.35; season-best) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished 42nd in the 200m (29.56) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. Eluwa finished 13th in the 200m (29.77) and 16th in the 60m (9.02; season-best) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) earned All-New England honors as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:44.19; field house record) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 19-20. She earned N.E. Alliance honors by competing as a member of the second place 4x200m relay (1:45.91), while also finishing 14th in the 200m (27.77) and 18th in the 60m (8.43), at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13.

 

Grammas finished 24th in the 60m (8.25) and 53rd in the 200m (26.80; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished 71st in the 60m (8.38m) and 140th in the 200m (27.18) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. Grammas finished fourth in the 60m (8.25; season-best) and fourth in the 400m (1:07.79; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished second in both the 55m (7.71; season-best) and the 200m (28.74), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:50.05), at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. Grammas finished 22nd in the 200m (27.35) and 23rd in the 60m (8.28) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She finished ninth in the 200m (28.54) and 11th in the 60m (8.34), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:47.65) and second place 4x400m relay (4:12.62), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) finished 11th in the 400m (1:03.59), while also competing as a member of the seventh place 4x400m relay (4:22.36), at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. She finished 33rd in the 400m (1:01.52; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. Grammas finished 132nd in the 400m (1:03.16), while also competing as a member of the 43rd place 4x400m relay (4:09.43) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. She finished fifth in the 200m (28.21; season-best) and sixth in the 60m (8.72; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Grammas finished second in the 400m (1:05.80) and fifth in the 55m (7.95; season-best), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x200m (1:50.05) and 4x400m (4:21.85) relays, at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished  19th in the 400m (1:03.30) and 40th in the 200m (29.34) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. Grammas finished fourth in the 400m (1:03.88), while also competing as a member of first place 4x200m relay (1:47.65) and second place 4x400m relay (4:12.62), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Darchelle Judd (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors as part of the first place 4x200m relay (1:44.19; field house record) and also finished ninth in the 200m (26.23) at the N.E. Div. III Championships Feb. 19-20. She earned a pair of N.E. Alliance honors, finishing sixth in the 200m (26.76) and second as part of the 4x200m relay (1:45.91) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. She also finished 12th in the 60m (8.25) and seventh as part of the 4x400m relay (4:22.36). Judd finished 55th in the 60m (8.16; season-best) and 87th in the 200m (26.17; season-best), while also competing as a member of the 43rd place 4x400m relay (4:09.43), at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 29-30. She competed as a member of the first place 4x200m relay (1:50.05) and the first place 4x400m relay (4:21.85) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. Judd finished 10th in the 200m (26.64) and 21st in the 60m (8.21) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She finished seventh in the 60m (8.27), while also competing as a member of the first place 4x200m (1:47.65) and second place 4x400m (4:12.62) relays, at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Heather Kolaski (Barrington, RI) finished 10th in the 600m (2:25.10) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. She finished 12th in the 600m (2:12.01; season-best) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.

 

Freshman Veronica Northup (Hope, RI) competed as a member of the 15th place 4x800m relay (10:38.51) at the N.E. Div. III Championships Feb. 19-20. She finished 15th in the 800m (2:45.71), while also competing as a member of the sixth place 4x800m relay (10:49.03), at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Northup finished 52nd in the 800m (2:43.73; season-best) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. She finished seventh in the 600m (2:01.93; season-best) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. Northup finished ninth in the 800m (2:54.84) and 14th in the mile (6:33.41; season-best) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 16.

 

Freshman Lauren Paiva (Coventry, RI) finished 20th in the 3,000m (12:17.24) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. She finished 28th in the 3,000m (12:41.21) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 6. Paiva finished seventh in the 1,000m (3:48.22) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished 11th in both the 1,000m (3:44.85; season-best) and the 3,000m (12:12.70; season-best), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:36.46), at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 16. Paiva finished 16th in the 800m (2:49.62; season-best) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 12. She finished seventh in the mile (6:12.58; season-best), while also competing as a member of the fourth place 4x800m relay (11:02.77), at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 5.
