LAMBRESE AND WARD LEAD THE WAY IN, 3-1, LOSS TO ENDICOTT AT BRANDEIS INVITATIONAL

Waltham, Mass.-Sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) and junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) contributed 16 and and 14 kills, respectively, as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball dropped its season-opener with a 3-1 loss to Endicott at the Brandeis Invitational on Friday evening.

 

The Anchowomen (0-1) won the first set, 25-22, before the Gulls (1-0) won the next three (25-23, 25-20, 25-14) to secure the victory.

Ward hit .324 (16-4-37) and rackd up 18 digs, while Lambrese hit .333 (14-2-36), totaled seven digs and posted two blocks. Senior libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) led the squad with 27 digs and classmate setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) handed out 37 assists.

 

Rhode Island College will face the host Judges (10 a.m.) and then square off against Babson (noon) tomorrow afternoon.
