GREENMAN SCORES TWICE AS RIC CRUSHES FISHER, 5-1

Medford, Mass.-Senior midfielder Jaclyn Greenman (Waterford, CT) scored two goals as the Rhode Island College women's soccer team blitzed Fisher, 5-1, in collegiate women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen (1-1) dominated a depleted Falcon (1-2) squad that only managed to dress nine field players and a goalie. Rhode Island College used the man-advantage to hold a 52-7 advantage in shots and a 15-2 margin in corner kicks.

 

Rhode Island College also got goals from sophomore forward Brittany DeGrooth (Westerly, RI), freshman forward Breanne Ford (Schenectady, NY) and freshman forward Madyson Christian (Douglas, MA) in the win.

Freshman goalkeeper Amber-Marie Francois (Warwick, RI) earned the win (1-0) with a three-save effort before giving way to junior netminder Brianna Sousa (Warwick, RI) for the final 18 minutes. Sousa was credited with one stop.

 

RIC held a 30-1 advantage in shots during the first half and kept the pressure in the second half with a 22-6 margin.

 

Sophomore midfielder Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI), freshman forward Alexandra Natale (Ledyard, CT) and junior midfielder Stephanie Ricci (Smithfield, RI) each had assists in the win.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Salve Regina on Tuesday, Sept. 6 (3:30 p.m.).
