WARD PACES ANCHORWOMEN TO FIRST WIN

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team posted a convincing, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-9), victory against Curry in a non-conference contest played at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening.

 

Leading the way for Rhode Island College (1-3) was sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI), who tallied a match-high nine kills, four digs and two blocks, while junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) notched five kills and six digs. Junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) notched 18 assists and five digs.

Curry (0-1) was paced by senior outside hitter Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, MA) with five kills, while senior setter Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, RI) tallied eight set assists and seven digs in the loss.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at tri-match at Salve Regina with Mt. Holyoke on Saturday, Sept. 10.
