CILLEY TIES FOR SEVENTH AS ANCHORMEN PLACE
SECOND AT WESTFIELD STATE INVITATIONAL

Westfield, Mass.-The Rhode Island College mens golf team recorded a second place finish (306) at the Westfield State Invitational, played at the Tekoa Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. Babson (292) took home first place at the 14 team event.

 

Junior Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) paced the Anchormen with a tie for seventh (75) over the par-71 course that measured 6,315 yards. Sophomore Mike Caparco (Johnston, RI) finished in a tie for 10th place (76), while sophomore Tom Sheran (Marston Mills, MA) was tied for 11th (77). Freshman Nathan Patterson (Conway, MA), the reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week, notched a tie for 13th (78), while junior Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) was tied for 25th (83) among a field of 69 golfers.

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will tee off at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship in Gorham, Maine on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-116. RIC will be going for its sixth straight GNAC Championship, which includes and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
