WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS AT EASTERN CONNECTICUT

Willimantic, Conn.-The Rhode Island College women’s swimming team fell to Eastern Connecticut, 125-64,  on Saturday afternoon.

 

Rhode Island College (0-2) junior Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) notched a first place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (33.81), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.74) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:08.25).  She also swam the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay (2:31.91) that finished in third place.

Senior Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI) had a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:00.30), a second place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (5:24.60) and a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:19.70).

 

Sophomore Courtney Payne (Waterford, CT) tallied a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.21), a fourth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:34.68) and a fourth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (32.13). She also swam the lead leg of the Anchorwomen’s 200-yard medley relay (2:31.91) that notched a third place finish.

 

Freshman Vanessa Dao (Revere, MA) notched a second place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (35.69), a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (31.35) and a third place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:18.90).  Dao swam the second leg of the third place 200-yard medley relay (2:31.91).

 

Freshman Jianna Hodge (North Providence, RI) recorded a fifth place finish in both the 50-yard backstroke (48.71) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:40.84) and a sixth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (42.05).  She also swam the anchor leg of the third place 200-yard medley relay (2:31.91). 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Western New England on Friday, Nov. 18 (7 p.m.)
