RIC SALVAGES SPLIT WITH, 3-0, WIN
OVER MOUNT HOLYOKE

Newport, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-22) victory over Mount Holyoke in a non-conference contest played at Salve Regina’s Rodgers Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. RIC dropped a 3-0 decision to host Salve Regina earlier in the day.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) once again led the way for Rhode Island College (2-4) with 14 kills and three digs, while junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) tacked on nine kills. Junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) had a double-double with 27 assists and 13 digs and senior defensive specialist Nicole Thibodeau (Loxahatachee, FL) registered a match-high 14 digs in the victory for the Anchorwomen.

Freshman middle hitter Sasha Simene (Kitchener, Ontario) paced Mount Holyoke (2-3) with nine kills and two assists, while sophomore middle hitter Jamesa Allen (Orlando, FL) recorded seven kills and nine digs in the setback. Senior setter Natalie Lyon (Oakton, VA) notched 23 assists and seven digs for the Lyons.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Lasell for a non-conference contest on Thursday, Sept. 15 (7:00 p.m.)
