2016 RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE
MENíS CROSS COUNTRY SEASON PREVIEW

Providence, R.I.- First-year Head Coach Conor McCloskey returns to his alma mater to lead the Rhode Island College menís cross country program in 2016.

 

ďI am excited to be working with the student-athletes that are here at RIC,Ē said McCloskey. ďThe goal for our guys is to improve on every prior performance and Iím confident the team can achieve our goals.Ē

 

Leading the way for the Anchormen this season will be junior Jon Carney (Bristol, RI). The teamís top returning runner notched a top-50 finish at the 2015 Little East Championships and had a career-best 18th place finish at the Western New England Invitational a season ago. Also returning to the RIC lineup this season is sophomore Jeff Garson (Cumberland, RI). Garson, a consistent performer for the Anchormen last year, will be looking to improve on his rookie campaign.

RIC is freshman Helder Gomes (Pawtucket, RI) is the top newcomer for the Anchormen this season.

 

RIC will open up the 2016 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The bulk of the teamís schedule will be the three meets in October as the squad prepares for the Little East Championship on Oct. 29.
