WARD & LAMBRESE PACE ANCHORWOMEN
IN, 3-0, WIN AT LASELL

Chestnut Hill, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team posted a commanding, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19), victory over Lasell in a non-conference contest played at the Lasell Athletic Center on Thursday night.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) led the way for RIC (3-4) with another double-double as she tallied 14 kills and 13 digs. Junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) tied Ward for a match-high 14 kills to go along with four digs and a block. Junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) recorded 35 set assists and nine digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Marisa Brynes (Warwick, RI) registered a match-high 16 digs in the victory for the Anchorwomen.

Lasell (3-3) was paced by junior right side hitter Michele Canestro (Castleton, NY) with her 10 kills and five digs, while sophomore middle hitter Olivia Addington (Orange, CA) narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 15 digs for the Lasers. Junior setter Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, CT) notched 32 set assists and seven digs and junior libero Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, CA) contributed a match-high 21 digs in the setback.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East Conference action at home against Southern Maine, along with Becker, on Saturday, Oct. 17.
