CARNEY LEADS MENíS CROSS COUNTRY AT
POP CROWELL INVITATIONAL

Wenham, Mass.-The Rhode Island College menís cross country team had three of the top-50 runners at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon College on Saturday morning. The Anchormen did not score as a team. The University of New England won the meet (11 teams) with a team score of 56.0.

 

RIC junior Jonathan Carney (Bristol, RI) finished 18th (106 runners) with a time of 28:57 over the 8K course for the Anchormen. Freshman Helder Gomes (Pawtucket, RI) notched a time of 29:22, which was good for a 24th place finish, while sophomore Jeff Garson (Cumberland, RI) placed 47th (31:07) to round out the RIC competitors.

 In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the James Earley Invitational, hosted Westfield State on Saturday, Oct. 8 (12:30 p.m.).
