MCCAFFREY LEADS WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
AT POP CROWELL INVITATIONAL

Wenham, Mass.-Sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) recorded a time of 20:49 to finish in 20th place (120 runners) to lead the Rhode Island College women’s cross country team to a fourth place finish (11 teams) at the 2016 Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen finished the 5K course with a team score of 103.0, while the University of New England won the meet with a score of 20.0.

Freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) finished 21st with a season-best time of 20:50, while junior Briana Lenihan (Saunderstown, RI) was right behind her in 23rd place (20:59). Senior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) placed 52nd (22:21), while sophomore Veronica Northup (Hope, RI) clocked in with a time of 23:17, good for a 61st place finish.

 

Senior Abigail Dandurand (Hope Valley, RI) finished in 65th place (23:29) for the Anchorwomen. Junior Lissa Almanzar (Providence, RI) posted a 66th place finish (23:31), while freshman Sarah Basler (East Greenwich, RI) was in 69th place (23:44). Junior Tess Rhoat (Wakefield, RI) rounded out the RIC contingent, placing 86th overall (26:07).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 8 (11 a.m.).
